Might be more standard in the UK, but not in Australia. The tailgate mounted location was standard on almost all Australian assembled Series 1,2/2a, 3 Landrovers.

Looks great! What effect did the soundproofing have? A noticeable difference?
Similar drives (I did some decibel logging before/after):
before:

after:

Now the low end is about 67db, vs before at maybe 71
And the high end is maybe 80-81 vs maybe 84-85.
Not loads of difference, but certainly noticeable, though I've just to do the bonnet and firewall, so that may help..
Remember that decibel readings are logarithmic not linear so a 4dbA drop is quite noticeable. Work around the doors - door seals, windows etc wil also helps lot. :)
It's been a while.. but busy with other things, productive afternoon today:
Small update but:
- Fresh bit of paint on insides of doors
- Finally added grab handles
- Added some EOL exmoor trim cards I got cheap (liking the colour compared to their more standard grey/black)

A bit tidier! :)
A bit more work:
Sound proofing from a while back, also redid door seals at the same time

Repainted and made a door card:

Also bought an exmoor trim canvas card:

+ new door seals

Also decided to bonnet mount the spare:

Great job on the sound proofing. I am thinking of doing the same thing to my doors.
I did under my seats with carpet but I think I need a bit more on my rear bulkhead.
it certainly makes a difference, I've recently bought a bluetooth speaker for the car and it's actually quiet fine.. only sound related improvement I think I could do now is adding insulation under the bonnet as well as perhaps headliner.
Also, my normal/non-project car was somewhat recently stolen (mitshu outlander, featured in some earlier photos), so the 109 is now my daily driver.. I'm keen to get it as comfortable inside as I can
I think my biggest improvement will be taking off these tyres.

Mine is only a weekend driver though not a daily.
