so I have taken all the bolts out holding the tub on and was glad to find a bracket with fixed bolts behind the fuel tank as I was wondering how on earth I was going to get a spanner around each side. Removed the "spare" battery box at the rear so I could get at each side of the fixings and then realised both bolt heads had had it and I had to grind them off anyway. I think I'll re-instate it as any storage space in an 88 is to be welcomed I think. Apart from an earth strap to the side of the box all I could see was a red wire disappearing off into the engine comp. I'll try work out where it goes. No idea why they had two batteries - cant see a charge splitter or anything. Tub and fuel tank coming off tomorrow.
cheers,

well I managed to get the fuel tank out easy peasy. Now to source another. Diesel tanks appear to be thin on the ground or I may have to make do with a petrol and just drill another hole for the return. I'm not sure what I'm doing with it yet. RWC or just getting it up and running for the place , so I don't want to spend big bucks on a brand new tank If I can avoid it. Couldn't lift the tub off , too heavy/awkward may have to get creative with some rope or invite the s.i.l over.
