Right or wrong, I was told years ago they were fitted arse up for two reasons.

    1. The cables hung down naturally.

    2. Moisture drained off much easier.

    Maybe there are other reasons?

I used the best of both worlds & mounted it sideways.

That's true, but it was difficult for the smoke to escape naturally upwards.

Been a while since I have had 2 minutes to work on the old landy
Looked at the tub a while ago to plan the repairs but unfortunately the tub was too far gone a combination life on the farm with fertiliser stored in causing massive corrosion throughout and spotwelds coming away on the side panels due to ware and tare
So until a good tub becomes available i will be making it a cab chassis so fitted up the rear bulkhead as a test needs a bit of tinkering to fit correctly then I will remove and repair then paint

Remember - the adjustable bit is the firewall, and the gaps have to fit the doors!

Thanks John yeah just fitting up for now as it not fit correctly to chassis mounts it sits forward of the mounts by about 10mm from we’re the front of tub used to mount to rear bulkhead putting doors on with the 10mm gap there also gives me a perfect door gap and fuel tank filler gap on both sides the front bulkhead was actually not far off all the othe series I have rebuilt it has had to be mucked around with

Well since it’s nice 32 degrees thought I would make the spacers for the truck cab and test fit and align bulkhead and doors
Well sometimes you have luck passenger side perfect gap strait up drivers side one small washer in bulkhead foot and that too perfect gap
Next job when time permits strip down doors rear bulkhead and paint
