Rebuild time

As 'Pedro' has stated the spring with the most set is generally for the driver's side and in your case the RHS, here are the part Numbers for the springs
Series 3 109 Front
RHS 265627
LHS 264563 the parts numbers are the same for both 88" & 109" the numbers can be found stamped on the underside (so it's visible to you) of the 3rd leaf (1st leaf Main, 2nd is the wrap round, 3rd leaf is the first long one)
Rear Springs
RHS 279678
LHS 279679
now there are NO guarantees that your vehicle has the original springs, a previous owner may have changed/swapped out for one or more reasons, anyway I hope the information is of some use to you, cheers Dennis
ps to check which spring has the most set, use a straight length of steel, then with a 300mm ruler from the center of the spring (opposite the center bolt) check the height between the spring and the steel bar,,.

As well as numbered the springs were colour coded for easy identification.
This may have only been on the CKD vehicles to save time/hassles in assembly.

Spend this afternoon attempting to install one of the chassis bushes. I had the bush hole nice and clean and all the paint removed so i was back to the bare metal. I had put the bush in the freezer for about 6 hrs hoping it would shrink a little. had my home made puller already to go and do you think i could get that blooming F*****G thing to go into its home. That thing really tested my patience and in the end i have given up on it.

I assume poly bushes are a lot easier to install? Superpro are the go i hear however at 3 x the cost of the other brands its a lot of money for some plastic.

Pricing up some poly bushes today -Wowee superpro are expensive

Has anyone had first hand experience with these other options? I am leaning towards the bearmach option. I am finding it hard justifying the extra cost for the superpro kit. This vehicle is not going to be a daily driver and not going to be used in extreme environments

Hi Ben, I will most likely get a set from Paddocks for my Series III if you want to split postage, although be aware local postage may be more than international!

Thanks for the offer Tim but i think you would be spot on with the shipping between us. I also need to order a heap of diff seals & gaskets which i still need to work out

No worries Ben, I'm in the same boat as you as I'll only be using my S3 occasionally, however I decided on the SuperPro gear as it is a known good product, and due to the work involved changing bushes I'm not going to risk the other stuff. In saying that Bearmach stuff seems quite good, I use it when Genuine is too $$$$ or OEM is unavailable.

There's been quite a few comments on poly bushes before - you get what you pat for abs the super pro bushes are by far the best. I've seen plenty that fall apart before the restoration is finished.

I used good quality rubber ones in mine, they were tight in the chassis, but went in fine with my home made puller. What brand bushes do you have? Again, you get what you pay for and some cheapies are bloody woeful.

I used a smear of anti seize on the bush to help lubricate it and to aid in its extraction should they ever need to come out again.

The rubber bushes i'm currently having issues with are bearmach branded. They appear fine & i suspect the problem is mostly user error. I managed to damage the front chassis bushes in my attempts at installing them so i need to get new ones now anyway :mad:
