Tim I just noticed you seem to have pop rivets on your doors, around the handle recess. My IIA has domed head solid rivets in that place, I just knocked them out to strip the doors. Is that a series 3 thing, or are they the wrong rivets?

    Cheers,

    Adam

Hi Adam, I had a look back through my photos, the doors originally had pop rivets. It looks like LR got more and more lazy with the aircraft style rivets over the years.

    Cheers,

Looks like, (from their part numbers), they source them from AJC, (Arthur John Charles), whom seem to be well regarded for quality, however AJC will not ship internationally themselves.

I didn't examine them too closely before handing them over to the painter, but they looked very well made.
    Thanks,
    Tim
Many Thanks Tim, I was contemplating on keeping and reusing door bottom on my series II but i'll have them replaced as they look very decent from your pic's.

Blind rivets and solid rivets are supposedly the same strength anyway. I reckon it just came down to ease of installation and build speed in the end.

Not much in the way of progress I'm afraid, I'm still waiting on the painter who's had a few staff dramas.

Made up the battery cables, I prefer to crimp them:

Then heat shrink them with the heavy type of heat shrink that has the glue in it. I also put bits of heat shrink where the securing clips are for the cable that runs to the starter:

This doesn't look like much, but there is brake fluid in the reservoir The brakes practically gravity bled themselves, I removed the nipples to put grease on the threads to make the vacuum bleeder more effective, and by the time I'd finished faffing about with the grease fluid was coming out the hole. Took all of 15 minutes to get a good solid pedal:

Other than that the windscreen(s) are in, coolant is staying in the cooling system, and the steering box is leaking oil... One step forward.....

Finally, some frivolous expenditure arrived today

    Cheers,

    Yay, running!

Not sure how to get imgur videos to link here like you can with YouTube - I just tried coping the link when you hit the share button on the video but it just comes up as a link even when contained in the [video] code.

I use YouTube myself - that's pretty easy.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.
