Thanks guys, I genuinely expected to be told I was an idiot and that it's a waste lol... thanks for those pics they have definitely inspired me... there is a mini truck show/weekend in November. It's the biggest event of the year so my plan is to at least get the carbs rebuilt/tuned so she runs well, see how low I can get her whilst maintaining the front diff/driveshaft by flipping and removing leaves and fitting some smaller tyres. Then trailer her to the show. Once I get back I'll then start with the proper work

You want me to call you an idiot?
    I would

    but......

Although the Stage 1 is a collectable item (as there are fewer of them), you are clearly having trouble moving yours on. It's not that you are making a killing. I think you were asking a very reasonable price.
There are a few original Stage 1 Landrovers getting about.
What you are doing doesn't send it to the scrap heap but will give it a reimagining that will add interest.
I look forward to following the build thread.

Oh, are you going to keep it 109" wheelbase? An 88" would be so much better.

Sounds like a great idea. The series III is hardly a rare vehcile so highly modifying it is not an issue. I'm doing a few things to mine that would make the purists squirm but no one has told me off yet. . On my list is electric power steering, disk brakes (already fitted), CAN bus wiring and RFID security/push button start (because I can). The main engine controller showed up the other day which takes care of the push button start.

Look forward to seeing what you come up with and your progress.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

If you want a chassis to play with to sort out mounting the axles etc. let me know. There is one on my driveway taking up room.
Originally a 6-cylinder, LWB Series III Station Wagon but has Holden engine mounts bolted in. Only surface rust (no holes or rot).

I just need to remove the axles.

My S3 runs (conventional) power steering fitted by the P.O. It means you can have a nice steering wheel and do reverse parks.

My S3 Stage 1 has power steering. It came standard on the chassis. Along with the coils.

As long as you don't paint it with a brush or roller... I think it's a good idea!
