My 2.25 voltage drop when cranking is so small that I have no benefit from a ballast resister. currently starting without a choke. I am concerned about point contact life as I have left the Key on a few times. I fitted aftermarket chineese coil/dist. havnt tracked down replacement parts yet.
My ser3 had an unmarked coil and electronic ignition. the last owner told me it destroyed a few coil until auto elec fitted a ballast and separate power supply for the ignition module.
My P76 and holdens needed all the coil power it could get when cranking.
simply fixed with dwell control ignitions kits of the day.
