    Heater Controls

I have been through the pdf version of the parts manual for the series 3 and cannot find anything on the heater controls inside the cab r/h side. I was going to get a couple of bolts to fix the controls to the plastic its not a biggie - just wondered if i was going nuts not being able to see it. If anyone ever comes across it would be grateful if you could let me know.
    Cheers,

I think you will find that the reason you can't find it is that the heater is optional equipment, so the parts are in the optional equipment parts catalogue.

Which bit were you looking for? Page 1J 10 in my catalogue.

    Thanks John.

1 j 10 is "Front and rear hub assemblies 88" 1980 onwards " on mine. I am guessing that there are different versions about.

I have Land Rover Parts Catalogue Series 3 to June 1988.

I'll see If I have an "optional" section somewhere.

There are two bolts that fix the heater control to the end of the upper crash pad and lower fascia on the series 3. I have mislaid both - if I knew what the part no. was , I would just add it to my next parts order. I am about to pray at the odds and ends can!

Found it! Its part 79216 under Fresh air heater controls lr optional equipment parts catalogue.

    Thanks again.

From your description, I think the parts you want are the screw, 79216, washer 3816, and spacer, 347478. (two of each)

    This is from

"Landrover Series IIA, III, 109V8 Oprional Equipment" Part No. RTC 9842CE Sept 1988

    Hope this helps.

    Got it thank you.
Interesting that the heater was optional. i dont think I have ever seen a s3 without the heater so must have been a good take up.

Heaters (or to be more precise, demisters) became compulsory in ADRs in about 1973, so there was only a couple of years of Series 3 production when they would all have had heaters.

    I have a related question.
Can someone explain what the 2 leavers do?

The inside lever opens up the heater tap on the engine and the outside one changes the direction from cabin to windscreen.

    Thanks
I was just playing with the controls just then.
The outside lever doesn't seem to be changing where the air is being directed to. I'll need to investigate further

Mate - i have just pulled the lower fascia off repaired it and put it back on. There are two bases stuck onto the lower fascia that the demister tubes sit in and both of mine were badly perished - passenger one worse than the drivers side - have a look at these first before you go pulling off the whole assembly. 2nd - just take the end off with the heater controls in and make sure nothing has come loose.
