Hello Lewy,
I have a similar set up for my spare tyre on my tray back ute. Funny how they were so cheap they could not extend the budget by 20 to 50 cents for the price of steel to lengthen the rod so the side with the valve would be facing away from the headboard! My ute had a canopy so the valve could not be reached between the cabin and the headboard. It meant undoing the tyre every time the spare was checked for air pressure.
Buying a new longer rod is on my "To Do" list! Either that or going to the wreckers and buying an under the tray mounting system for the spare.
Kind Regards
Lionel

Did a loop out through Berry then Kangaroo Valley and back. Tyres went well. Much better up and down Cambewarra Mountain.
Another year of rego paid for today. Loving the 60 day logbook rego in NSW

I asked them when I paid my rego and they seem to think that it will keep going.
I hope it does as it means I get to use it more. I try and do 2 drives a month with the local club and then 1 drive a week on the logbook.
I was using my '78 FFR maybe twice a month and putting on less than 1000km / yr. Rego and green slip cost me around $1k. I'm very happy I swapped it over!..
Being on H plates has revived the restoration process too.
But you know the old saying... if something seems too good to be true,..
Rob.
