    How strong are hood Sticks

    Gents,

I would like some input with regards to the strength of Series 3 SWB hood sticks,

what sort of load would you think they would be happy to endure?

if i was to work out a way of mounting a rack to them, Do you think they would need beefing up?

if evenly distributed across the rear and front sticks what do you think they could carry in their standard guise?

    answers on a postcard.....

"how strong are hood sticks?" They aren't.

They are strong enough to support the canvas. Period.

Yup, canvas is about the load limit.

We've been using this set up for the last 15 years of inland and outback travel. We carry all our sleeping gear, extra blankets, extra warm clothing, a big tarp and anything that needs to stay clean and dry, and readily accessible, in the basket under the "roof".

Great idea there, and well executed,

so it looks like you would be loading that with up to say 20-30kgs with no dramas

    thanks

Looks like a very ingenious idea. I would tend to keep support of any weight away from the middle of the hoops.
