    Identification request!

Hi there, new boy, very little knowledge, pretty sure this is a series III, and is this a Holden motor conversion?

Just scored this for a slab, it runs, but obviously needs some loving. Will just be a farm vehicle, unless it turns out it's in better nic than I think. Cheers

Yes to both questions. Looks a lot like a 186 red motor but not completely sure of that.

Engine number should tell you the capacity of the motor and it can be found stamped on a flat surface where the engine mount bolts up, between the fuel pump and the distributor.
There should also be a large cast number on the front left side of the block behind the Alternator (or generator) to identify the engine capacity,
unless it's a very early red motor, in which case it will have either nothing, or "HP" on it.
More than likely it will have one of the following, 179, 161, 186, 173, or 202 on the side of the block.
Landy doesn't look too bad, some love and devotion will bring it back to life.
Here below are a couple of examples.

    Good luck with it.

    Cheers, Mick.

Thanks Mick, this will help a ton.

I'm still in Melbourne at the moment and the car is down in Tassie, we will be properly acquainted in the new year when I move down there, then the fun begins.

I would be interested to know the engine number when you locate it.
