I did my fuel filters 2 weeks ago to get rid of some rough running. There is one filter in the bottom of the fuel pump and another filter under your aircleaner. Mine were fairly dirty.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...825d77bafa.jpg
Few updates on the Stage One... :)
Fitted the new front crank seal, I don't actually think it was the cause of (one of the!) leaks, there was a lot of oil around the base of the distributor, turns out it didn't have an O-Ring fitted :/
While the dizzy was out it got an upgrade to electronic points, and a new coil to go with it. The windscreen washer pump was also replaced as the old one had died. The fuel filter that sits in the highly convenient spot of, just on top of the gearbox, under the air filter, and in the middle of the firewall, was also replaced. There was a good amount of brown schmutz in the bowl, so I think it was a bit overdue!
New water pump fitted:

And new fan installed (backwards - I did turn it around later):

On to the cause of the fan/pump failure.... The car has been fitted with a later 90/110 radiator, the company that did it did a bit of a **** poor job of the fitting. The radiator was sitting on the the joint between the end tanks and the core, via a bit of rubber, on top of the original factory chassis mounts.
The other issue was that there was nothing securing the bottom of the fan shroud, so this could swing into the cooling fan, causing its damage, and no doubt not doing the water pump any favours.

The bottom steel frame of the radiator was removed so I could salvage the pins that are supposed to sit in rubber chassis mounts.
To be continued vvvvv
A piece of channel was folded up out of 1.5mm steel, and the pins welded into it so it could mount into the original chassis mounts.

The channel also had a big enough lip on it to capture the bottom of the fan shroud. Once everything was lined up the channel got a paint job, then was riveted to the bottom radiator support.

And finally the whole lot back together :)

Last Monday the pit inspection was done, and the car could be finally WA registered :) :) (The number plate is in it's original position, and I can't stand it! Sets off my off center disorder something fierce!!)

And it got to spend a night at home with its mate :) , (and lubricate the concrete in the garage :/ )

Well done Tim, two great looking vehicles
Squeak squeak squeak squeak....... looks like the hub seal had had enough of it's tension spring :C

(The orange looking schmoo is some sort of grease the wheel bearings were smothered in)
Cheers,
That's a new one on me - never seen a hub seal do that! (They usually just leak)
I wonder if it was dislodged during installation?
Awesome looking trucks. Dont increase your tyre pressures while they are in the carport! Cheers
Photo from the archives, but the Stage One has been a daily driver for well past 18 months now, and I'm really enjoying it. Bit of a handful with steering thats like me, vague and often without direction, and brakes that require ESP.
It has been unashamedly reliable, apart from a bad dose of petrol right on Christmas, which I really can't blame the car for. Even the 40C plus days don't seem to worry it, I certainly don't cope so well, and my laptop that was doing a bit of logging straight up quit!
The car's mostly been the work and back home mule, but has done a few out of town trips, including 600ish klms to Vasse and back in a day, where it managed an average of 16l/100klm, (something must have been wrong). Anyway, as a daily driver, and a series LR, 10/10, do recommend.
