How responsive are they to speed changes ? Are they instant or laggy ?

The Speedhut units update 4 times a second so not laggy - can't comment on cheaper units. Speedhut have some videos on YouTube, one of which shows one of their GPS speedos in a race car accelerating up to 100MPH without issue.

That's pretty good, my speedo has just packed it in so I'm debating the cost of the VDO option or this. Glad the sensor works off the dash top. That was one of my concerns.

Yes the inbuild GPS updates 4 times a second but it cannot determine instantaneous speed from each of those. It will note the position at each update and then calculate speed from the distance travelled over time so depending on the programming there will be a lag on speed as it will need a number of positions before speed can be claculated. - Not perceptible when cruising but when accelerating or stopping quickly there will be a noticeable delay. eg - when you have decelerated quickly to a stop it may take a second or so for the speed to read zero.

However in reality not such an issue.

The original speedo does not respond all that quickly to speed changes TBH , I can't notice any change in lag over the old speedo. Perhaps more that the Series vehicles can not accelerate, nor brake quickly enough for speedo lag peception to be an issue.
