GPS Speedo, 'Rivet counters' don't look.

Needing a Speedo that works & an accurate Trip Meter for my Electric Landy, And still be accurate when I swap to my other wheels.

Bought a Chinese 85mm GPS Speedo from eBay for AU$90, not till it arrived that I realised the Landy speedo was 100mm , And it does not have a trip meter as stated in the ebay ad.

Bit more research & I ordered a 100mm speedo from Speedhut USA , able to customise with font and logo it to make it look more Landy like. 5-6 week delivery. would have preferred 0-120 but best they had was 0-180kmh .

Meanwhile , I made an alloy adaptor ring to fit the 85mm speedo. Super pleased with how it works, great resolution & picks up the GPS signal within 5 seconds, canvas roof probably helps there.

Should have painted the adaptor ring black but its only temp until the 100mm speedo arrives. Not sure about the red glow with lights on , but its dead easy to see.

Looks neat! I was wondering if there was an electric drive you could put on the rear of the Jaeger gauge and use a GPS sender to drive it.

Surprisingly a solution is available from the same place I ordered my 100mm speedo. Probably need the cable end modified to suit Jaeger .

I run these in both my s111 ,one for nearly 10 years , no more wavey needle broken cables and seizing speedo heads, nuts on accurate.
If you get the graphics option right they dont look out of place , the pick up sits on the dash top panel, the anntena cable is way to long so I had the last one shortened
    Excellent maimtaince free landrover improvement

    Do they work in tunnels?

On particularly overcast days or at times of heavy rain, my satnavs can't find signal. Would these speedos work in these conditions?

Sorry Mick but unless GPS has improved i doubt it will work in tunnels or under heavy treed area`s and sometimes multi storey buildings will effect their ability to work

Not that many tunnels in the Marsh are there Mick? 😉

No, they don't which is what makes them technically illegal for primary speedo use - but I'll be doing the same in the 101 as it will suit what I need it for and in reality be far more accurate than a factory LR speedo of the era we're talking about 99.99% of the time.

I've been on the lookout for a 100mm version so just waiting to see how GB's looks and I'll be ordering one myself. 👍😊

As Gavmentioned these are not legal as a primary speedo, so if ultimately you are going for rego and the tester picks up on it you may have issues.

Yeah, mines already regoed as is the OP's so no issues there. I've also sent an email to Speedhut asking if they can delete the 'GPS' bit off the facia which I'm thinking they can do as they are fully customisable and they'll print a facia to suit your exact requirements - will know early next week hooefully - will be placing an order with them soon myself. 👍
