Wind the clock forward Thirty Something years and despite a previous post where I said "they are worth more unmolested", I'm still 'modernising' .... just can't help myself

I think it was your car that I saw on an lrocv mag parked at Landy Lane in Briagalong way back in the early 90's.

I finally got to replicate it about 3wks ago.

    Nice looking vehicle.
Did you also have Tojo axles in this one?
How did the Tojo axles in your other vehicle compare for gearing? Road speed etc.?
What motor were you running in this one GB?

    Cheers, Mick.

Excellent, Yes I do remember parking at Landy Lane in Briag , I've been searching for the photo, but now you mention it, was it on the inside cover of an LROCV review & maybe why I cant find the photo !!

No this was RRC axles & chassis made from a Combination of RRC & SWB pieces, with 4.1 CW&P . The first incarnation I carried over the Holden-6 and Series-2 box, soon 'upgraded' to 302W C10Auto and G60 Transfer case. 90MPH no problems at all .

The FJ55 Axles in the other one were Early Tojo 3.7 Semi Floaters , It cruised along Ok, I don't remember taking it much past 80MPH.

I already have a set of white sunraysia rims, that I'm not a fan of. I wonder if painting them black might help their look?

Basically I'm trying to copy a picture of a SWB Defender that my wife came across. The current colour of the car is yellowish with a white roof, and I want to change it to metalic red similar to the modern Mazda colour. Using the Red & Black theme as much as possible, will come to a black roof.

Is there a air conditioning system that can be fitted?

Current operations are cutting out the chassis rust and replacing the front beam and outriggers for the springs.

I've already bought (but not fitted), electronic ignition & electric raditor fan for added reliability

Future plans are for high back seats, parabolic springs and a serious mount of noise reduction.

This is a very slow project for me, however it will get there in the end.

Attached is the Defender I'm emulating.

    Brian
Brian if your car has white Sunraysias and a yellow paint job it may be a series 3 game variant a fairly unique vehicle

    Cheers Paul
