    exhaust question

    Hi, question I have.

I am in the process of fixing (would not really call it restoring :-)), when looking at the exchaust I noticed the brackets are of some sort of canvas type material, and need to be replaced.

    Question:
What and where can I get some replacement brackets for the exhaust hangers (if that is the right term).

    Second Question:
What have people done to reduce the heat from the exchaust entering the cab. The passenger side floor gets really hot :-).

    Third question (not exhaust related):
Where would I be able to get a replacement front dash...

    Thanks so much.
    Henk.

As a coincidence I am replacing the rear exhaust hanger on my 2A today.
Mine hade already been replaced by a previous owner with insertion rubber, but he used several pieces about 3mm thick
instead of a single piece, and although not ideal, it has lasted for many years. The ideal product is a piece of flat belt like
used to run pumps etc. There are industrial pump and equipment supply places that sell it from a roll.
You might be lucky and score an off cut or piece of scrap.

A good place to keep an eye out for pieces of old conveyor matting etc. is along the roadside, as trucks tend use it on
their trays as matting, and it often blows off when they are not loaded.

As for the dash, a lot of people recover their own with vinyl, and new foam if necessary.
There may be mobs in the UK that supply new or refurbished ones.

    Cheers, Mick.

    Exhaust hangers.
You can buy them from most of the UK suppliers.
As Mick mentions, find a piece of conveyor type belting and make your own ( Mick, CC Components in Mildura would probably have offcuts. Long time since I've visited them though)

    Heat
Drive faster so the airflow carries the heat away....
Make a heat shield or wrap the exhaust.

    How bad is yours?
I've just refurbished two.Expanding foam to fill the gaps, cut & sand to shape then cover with vinyl.
