    Scored a Series 3 Trayback

I bought them for 'parts' after they had been sitting for a few days on FB with no takers. The runner is a 2.25 Diesel,

The thing that attracted me to the sale notice was the 'Factory Fitted PTO ' something I would consider quite unusual on a Series 3, I'm inwardly hoping the chassis are cactus as I'll be more inclined to dismantle them .

The 'parts car' is the one on the seperate photo.

I hope that cog isn't welded to the PTO shaft, bonus pintle,
wonder if that tow-bar is certified ?

Certification for tow bars only applies to vehicles produced after a date well after the end of S3 production, when the relevant ADR was introduced - I think, some time in the early nineties; I know it is after my 110.

I think the comment was very 'tongue in cheek'

    Nice find !

Usually the rear PTO has a lower bolt that goes into the Land Rover tow bracket. I wonder if someone welded a separate bracket to the rear cross member or it just has two bolts in the crossmember.
The Series I (& possibly II) have tubes welded through the rear crossmember for the PTO bolts so the crossmember doesn't crush as you tighten the bolts. It'll be interesting to see how this one has been fitted (factory or not.....).

If you need any parts taken away when you've finished let me know what's left.....

The bonnet on the 'runner' is good but its staying on the car . The bonnet on the parts car has a very rusted out frame.

The vehicle is in amazing condition for a 'Farm Hack"

blasted layers of mud , cow**** and layers of crud off and voila, factory crayon marks on chassis. There is no rot anywhere on the chassis . The suspension & steering are tight , brakes come up on the second pump ( astonishing as its been sitting for 15 years) , swivel balls are perfect , Its even got factory sun visors. I'm flabbergasted really.

(too bad its not a SWB )

In fact the vehicle is really too good to pull parts from so I'm at a loss what to do with it.

It looks like some minor re-commissioning and it could be back on the road again ! Great find.
Shame I already have too many projects or I'd be in contact ! Mind you, it's only SWMBO that told me I have too many projects I'm not sure I believe her.

Good to see that the lower PTO bolt was attached to something although that isn't the original towing bracket I was thinking of.

The front part is the same, it may be for a SWB deisel or a model with twin tanks. The exhaust on mine goes along under where the passenger side tank would go, but it may not be original as is in too sound a condition for its age.
