Are you better off putting a Series body on a cut-down Disco chassis & running gear ? That way you could go 300Tdi.

Hi all,
I'm sure this has been gone over a dozen or two times, anyway I'm rebuilding a S3 109 with a Holden 186, series box and transfer case with a toro overdrive. However, before I start shelling out money on rebuilding the current drivetrain, I would like to consider a few more options. One being a Isuzu 2.8 T diesel, second being a 3.9 T diesel like the perentie, however I think my budget will rule this one out. I am also thinking about swapping the axles in favor of Discovery diffs for disc brakes and a better final drive ratio. I know there is an issue with the diff swap in regards to the steering, but understand this has been done before. I plan to do some touring and towing with the landy once done. Thank you all in advance for your input and wise advice.

Exactly my thoughts. I haven't considered it either. Wheelbase is nearly bang on 109" so that's handy. But I already have a really good series chassis to the 1 ton specs. So happy to use it. Keen on the idea of the Isuzu 2.8 rodeo motor using a Isuzu 2wd drive box with the lt76 transfer. Just unsure of where the gear selector will end up. Will be getting measurements on Sunday.
