SIII Shorty - Potential Project
A neighbour (1.5km away) has a collection of old landies and a few old tojos quietly going back to whence they came.
I’ve had a quiet back-burner idea of converting a shorty to electric vehicle
GoingBush beat me to the punch by a looooong shot but just means I now have someone who has done the groundwork.
Of the six old landies the neighbour has varying II, IIa and III
There were two shorties
A II diesel with a banana chassis completely gone
A III was petrol (no engine) that had a good amount of Iron Oxide but likely usable.
The firewall needs loving
Rear cross member plenty of repairs
Front dumb irons intact
Internal decay from being out in the open
Sooo who knows where this journey will go but the serial number of the Jalopy is
90301471A
First step I think will actually be installing a hoist in my new shed addition
I have a million questions but at this stage
But probably have to just jump in both feet

Good to hear you're going the electric route! I will get to doing it one day.. maybe when the components get a little cheaper
If you haven't already, follow Jaunt Motors on instagram or facebook, they're doing electric conversions to old Series Land Rovers at the moment.
