Landy blowing white smoke solved (kind of) oil air filter problem

hello, so I posted on this forum a few weeks ago that my SIII was blowing white smoke out the exhaust and I have discovered that my oil air filter is empty and I believe the car has been sucking oil out of that into the engine, does anyone know how to fix this? thanks

Never heard of that happening, but I can see how it could if the bit in the first picture was left out.

Also, if sucking in the oil wouldn't be blowing blue smoke rather than white smoke.

Yes, although the difference between blue oil smoke and white steam is not always recognised by inexperienced writers. But it does occur to me to wonder if the aircleaner had been filled with water - either in error, or as the result of some deep wading? Water would suck up more readily than oil, even if everything was in place.

Im sure the drivers feet would be a bit damp, plus the rest of the body.

White smoke can be ATF or brake fluid, although it’s hard to see how those apply to a series .

Discussed in the other thread on this subject....it has a brake booster.

Brake reservoir topped up (where did the fluid go ?) and then the problem started. So either a problem with the booster/master cylinder, being new doesn't mean it can't be faulty, or as suggested it's inhaled the oil from the air cleaner.

Maybe run with no oil in the air cleaner and see if the problem goes away, if it doesn't then check brake fluid level and then investigate the booster/master cylinder.

thanks for the replies, can confirm that it was a too light oil in the filter and since changing to a heavier oil and letting the car idle for an hour it all cleared up. Lesson learnt if you drive your series car in really hot weather, watch your oil filter. and yes the smoke was blue but to an untrained eye it appeared white.
