    Seatbelt laws

    Hello - first time poster.
Just had my 1972 S3 SWB restored and put in rear, inward-facing, bench seats with no seatbelts.
It was registered (non historic) when it just had the three front seats (all with seatbelts), so what are the NSW rules around occasionally using the rear benches?
Do I have to get an engineering certificate? If so, what does that need to prove?
    Thanks in advance.

If it is registered as a three seater then you can't put any more than three people in it, regardless of seats or seatbelts. You can put the factory seats in the back and add seatbelts and re-register it accordingly. That's what I'm doing here in Vic. No need for engineering if you fit the seats and seatbelts as per factory. A 1972 model will have to have seatbelts.
