The Dunlop "Road Track Major's" were a popular four wheel drive tire in the 1970's.

Google 'Spanish Olive Leyland' and you get a lot of P76's, a Mini plus a couple of pictures from AULRO of Spanish Olive vehicles.

That would be correct - it was common to a range of Leyland vehicles of the era.

I suppose my point was that Googling it for Land Rovers didn’t necessarily give a clear cut result.

    Henry...

The beloved 3/74 SWB landy arrived on Saturday evening by cover of dark. ALL the lights work, so Lucas the King of Darkness (Did I get that right?) was on his best behaviour. I have some lovely pics, but buggered if I know how to post them.. suffice to say this is a very very straight and very very original car... ZERO rust.. farm fresh from Victoria. Last rego sticker is from 1989, proud in the passenger side window...

I have ordered a haul of bits and pieces, and have found a genuine metal grill (just can’t do the plastic one!). I now need a Land Rover badge for that grill, so wonder can anybody point me to the correct item, and potentially a genuine one complete with correct mounting screws etc?

the journey has started, and it’s super exciting, as I have such a great car to begin with...

would love to post some pics.. my little Son was over the moon with that super infectious excitement we all remember!

    cheers all,

    Adam

ps. The original key ring with original keys (cut in the UK) has ‘Henry’ written on both sides.. it’s very old too... I’m guessing someone called this car Henry.. no reason to change I guess!

Series 3s only had the plastic grill - so you putting in a Series 2a grill?

hmmm, now I’m not an expert, but one such person told me that Aussie cars were offered with either a black or gal metal grill as an option up to mid 72.... again, this is what I am told only.

    Hello from Brisbane.

While the Series 3 model nominally started in 1971, they were still delivering the Series 2A trucks up to about late 1972. So, part of that (metal grille to mid 72) is correct - it just may not have included Series 3 trucks.

Anyway, grilles are personal choice - if you decide to fit a metal one and are looking for a badge, then you might want to look for one with Rover Australia on it from a later Series 2A or the plain badge from the rear tub of a Series 3. You will also need to slightly modify the radiator support panel to hold the bottom of the metal grille.

    Cheers,

    Neil

Did a heap of things at the weekend .. very exciting. Wish I could put some pics on to show you all!

Bought a rebuilt kit for the Solex 36 1V carby.

Have repainted genuine mudflaps, installed correct tan seat backs - will get these re-covered eventually.

can anyone help out with these items?

    1) Genuine LAND ROVER Grill badge and screws if anyone has one? I am relaxed if it's a Solihull one, but I am told I should be chasing a Land Rover Australia version. Please PM me if you have, i'll pay the right dollar for the right badge.

    2) genuine screws / washers and nuts that hold the bulkhead seat buffer rubber blocks in place? I have sourced the rubber.

    3) genuine screws / washers / nuts that hold the round spare wheel buffers on the bonnet.

    Cheers all ,

    Adam
