    Outdoor car cover

    Hi

I was wondering whether anyone has experience and also can recommend the best car cover for series 3.

There are few in supercheapauto but not sure which one better suited in size or best material.

    Thanks
    Gus

The best ones are the ones with the fleecy lining so the cover dose not scratch the paint when the cover flutters with the wind & rubs on the paint or any dust on the paint work . The main problem with car covers is that they sweat if the vehicle is left out side & this can cause small blisters in the paint from the moisture penetrating the paint & that can cause alum corrosion under the blisters. You can buy ones with vents to help with this but you need to take them off after the cover gets wet to dry every thing out. Even though the cover says it is water proof they are only water proof with a very light shower.

    Thanks.

I am not sure wethere this has fleece on the inside or not. But was wondering whether the size is enough or not for Series 3. Mine I think close to 200cm height but this is only 135cm. Is that ok for car cover. I couldn’t find that is 200cm in height.

In my experience car covers advertised for outdoor use are not suitable for outdoor use, those advertised as being waterproof are not waterproof, those as advertised as being UV stable are not UV stable. Most will disintegrate in the sun in less than a year.

I used to buy expensive covers and they fell apart so now I buy cheap and just plan on replacing them every year. The one from Supercheap is good if the car is inside but if outside in the sun will rot in about 12 months - same thing but a lot cheaper on ebay.

Yes I agree with all that. I have bought a couple from Supercheap & they lasted about a year with garage use before falling apart , I have bought a couple from Aldi the 1st is a good one with fleecy lining has lasted around 10 years but is now getting a little dirty , the 2nd I bought a bought 6 months ago thinking it was the same as the 1st , it dose not have the lining . It is ok for the 80" because it only touches the paint work in a couple of places & i put old bath towels on the tops of the guards so it dose not scuff the paint . They booth say they are water proof but I find when I take Landy to a 2 day car show & have my pump display set up & I leave her there over night when I take the cover off in the morning the car is wet even when it dose not rain.

I had two Aldi ones - silver outer cover and fleecy inner cover and they only lasted 12 months in the sun.

With my camper being parked up most times I have the standard cheap cover on it but over that a cheap $25 Super cheap blue tarp on the top which takes the direct sunlight - change this once a year but the underlying cover lasts about 3 to 4 years.

I bought one off eBay for $75 which had a fleecy lining and was claimed to be waterproof. It lasted about 3 months on the Defender and then split along the seam. The vendor gave a refund.
Currently I'm using a non-waterproof cheapy, mainly just to keep off leaves so they don't stain the paint and require polishing.

IMHO, the best car cover is a Shed/garage or carport. The cloth type are to be avoided if you value your car.
