The amount of effort it took to get off I'm hoping I'm going to be able to just get it back to where it was! It was really not wanting to let go 😂

I've tried my backside off to do up this nut. I've even used the jack to push the bar. It's about 1/25th or 1/30th of a turn off being back at the original position. It was a complete dog to get off and back to where it is. Should I just leave it at that?

I'm doing it now but in the video he marks the thread with a punch to locate the position of the nut because of the preloading setting.
Wouldn't that make it difficult if it was ever changed again or do you expect to never have to change the preload??

I replaced the Salisbury pinion seal in my 2a last year and Pete (the owner of All 4X4 Spares in Newcastle) recommended using a paint pen to mark the original spot and then, when tightening up the nut again, do it up an extra quarter turn beyond the paint pen mark.

Thanks Ferg. I've put it back together now I just punched a little mark on the nut and the shaft. I might pull it back apart in a month and see if i can nip it up further butit really was not budging with the jack under the bar even.
