Hi again all,

I am doing a bit of a refresh on my 2.6, and I was considering replacing the timing chain.

I thought that removing the tensioner would give enough slack to get the old chain off the chain pulleys, but doesn’t seem to be quite enough. I am reluctant to pull the chainwheel off of the cam etc, as suggested in the manual, not least because I lack the special tool 507231 to extract it, but also because I don’t want to accidentally throw out the timing.

There doesn’t seem to be anything particularly wrong with the timing chain, chainwheel or crank sprocket, but I was going to replace the chain if there was an easy solution (like in the 2.25 where there is no need to remove the chainwheel). Can anyone tell me if there are any tricks to be able to get the chain off without removing the chain wheels? Thanks in advance Timing chain replacement on 2.6 6-cyl

Cheers, Matt
