    S3 dash button

    Hi all,

I am realised that some S3 dashboards have an additional button. On mine, there is only a black cover. What is this button for?

    Thanks

No idea, but as your query lacks input from other readers I'll have a pop.
As you are probably aware, Series LRs of most models lend themselves to the fitting of additional "features" eg. Fog Lamps, winches etc, indeed my own S2A has had various switches added during its life Reversing Lamps, Fog lights & some other non-standard bits & pieces, probably no longer required these days.
I suggest you trial & error yours with an observing onlooker & try to pin it down always assuming your panel is identical of the one you posted. Of course you could go the long way around & trace each switch to it's end component.
Sorry I can't help further but I am not familiar with the S3 but my suggestions would be the same for any Series Vehicle.

    Good Luck.

My very hazy memory from my SIII days says windscreen washer pump switch. Of course I may well be having a “moment”.

A good moment nevertheless. I think you may be right & it would be an EZY one to check.

My fathers S3 he bought new that was the electric windscreen washer button/switch. Also when I worked for Rover dealership back then all the S3's sold had electric windscreen washers with that switch/ button.

    Windscreen washer button.
Also, should mention replaceable windscreen washer pumps are available from Repco.

On my series 111 2.25, that is where the low level diesel warning light is. The washer pump is activated by pushing the round switch on the right into the dash. Turning this knob sets the wipers going.
