I've seen them that colour, but I can't remember where. All the Series Landrovers I have ever owned (1,2,2a,3) .have been black though. Possibly something like very late S3 or even just a particular batch of filters from a different supplier.

Have to agree with John on this one, have seen them that colour but not on any that I have owned, so most likely late Series III (which I have never owned).

However that said - the ones I have seen were more like the wheel silver colour of the SIII rather than the hammered metal of the one in the picture.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

The one(s) I have seen were the hammered metal finish - I think!

Both my 2A's (1970) were that finish, but my S111 (1979) was black

I have a bog standard holden filter atop the BXOV1 Strommy. I think the filter housing is for the larger BXU2 (??) carb because it barely stays on with the clamp squeezed to the limit. Probly sucks in shytie air as a result. Difficult to say really. In a nut shell, I want an oil bath W/- KN element. Where do I get one of these from in Brisbane?

I was told by a fellow LR owner the other day that an Oil Bath Filter is just as good as a snorkel when doing deep river crossings, I can't see how it's possible? Any truth to that theory? I must admit I have never seen an ex military LR with a snorkel and I'm guessing if they needed one they would install one.
