if your ratio comes out as 3.54:1 as opposed to 4.7:1 and you want to go back to 4.7:1 I can possabley help you out.
Hmm, I must have counted wrong, my crown-wheel has 47 teeth and the pinion 16. 47/16 = 2.9375... what am I doing wrong!?
Count how many times the tailshaft turns (this is the pinion side) to turn the axle 10 times (this the crown side)
Mark a line on tailshaft & Mark a line on wheel so you can line up & count turns on each item
should work out to
(example) 47.0 turns of pinion to 10 turns crown= 4.7 to 1
(example) 35.4 turns of pinion to 10 turns crown = 3.54 to 1
Gives a idea of what you have without having to rip out diffs :)
OK, sorted, its 4.7:1
Thanks all for your input.
Do you think it's worth popping a couple of bolts into those holes to stop them filling with crap?
:D
No, not necessary, Regards Frank.
Ummm, no it won't enless you either
A. lock the centre.........if your a lucky boy:D
B. turn BOTH axles the same amount of times
Turning one wheel will be a figure, double of that found by turning both axles, and any differential action that isn;t accounted for, will muff it up aswell
