So would a 200tdi motor bolt up to a series gearbox? Whats the business in regards to disco and defender 200tdi motors? If they do connect to the series gearbox can you fit a 200tdi disco motor into a series?
Hi Dickyjoe, from what I've read the 200/300tdi motors do bolt straight up to a series gearbox as the blocks are essentially the same as the the old 2.25 motor. Maybe need to remove a stud on the bellhousing. Engine mounts are supposed to be compatible also. 200tdi from a defender is easier as the turbo is mounted more series friendly than the disco one.
cheers
Evelyn
so whats the big problem with the holden motor? if you were to use a rebored and rebuilt 186 red motor, with a high torque fuel efficient cam like the 35613 from crow cams (http://www.crowcams.com.au/media/catalogues/30.0 Holden 6 HYD.pdf) and a new heavy duty radiator with taller gearing by means of a HRTC, 3.54 diffs or an overdrive.
I always wonder if the bad press was from "someone using uncle joes red motor he pulled out of the EH went the rust got to it, its been a good motor and sitting in the shed for donkeys and they stick it in the LR with the normal radiator and problems start occuring."
