Sorry, but when you are building the best restored series 3 in the world you can't give all your secret suppliers away. I did get a NOS plate.

I hope not, I think it is great to see more restored vehicles on the road and at events. As I said I think I supplied LRO with a vitually mint diesel firewall, I could have keep it for mine as it was better, but ultimately its really about maintaining the marque not the egos.

    Back again

Thanks again about clarifying the chassis construction on my Shorty, have some more questions if anyone can help.

The tub that is on my shorty has twin fillers on it looks like an original tub but maybe not for my vehicle? I aquired a second fuel tank to fit off on the passanger side but it is fouled by the way the exhaust is setup. So was it an optional extra and was there an original exhaust modification that could be bought to fit off the second tank on a early Series 3 SWB.
    Kindest regards

My Series 2a & 3 optional parts book shows an optional LH tank. However, this has an under seat filler! It also shows the exhaust system for the LH tank installation. The pipes are 517469 front and 264195 (88). 501221 (109) rear.

The presence of a LH filler fitting in the tub could be either a modification by the Australian assembler or dealer or even a previous owner, as the LH tank with a filler on the tub was fitted to most army 2a Landrovers, so the fitting was well known. The filler assembly is identical left to right except for the hose, which is no longer available, but a RH one can be used by cutting it and inserting a short length of exhaust pipe with clamps.

Sorry Garry but no, I just know that in QLD to rego a 1972 onwards vehicle it needs a compliance plate.

    Cheers, Mick.

Thanks for that John I suspect that the tub is from another vehicle as the chassis does not have the hanger to pick up the front of the tank. I think I will try and source a new tub to leave it a single tank. Would you know where I could source a front pipe for a 88" or a good SWB tub.
    Kindest regards

The pipe should be available from any of the Landrover suppliers, and there should be a reasonable chance of getting a good tub from one of the places that wrecks Series Landrovers. There may be a chance of getting one from someone on here.
