I think it is quite rare, and is likely to be fully imported, possibly by Annand & Thompson in Brisbane. A check of the VIN on one of the sites that give information on them would show whether it was an export or CKD vehicle.

THe car is in the shed down the back, will check again in daylight,how ever the colour is Camino Gold which I think is an Australian colour. It does have a Compliance Plate. I add that it does also have factory fitted insulation covering the bulkhead and gearbox. This material is very similar to that fitted in the boot of an Austin Healey 100 I owner a couple of years ago and was known as "hardura".

That sounds like it could be a Game - which was a unique Australian assembled car, with sunraysia wheels and wider tyres, and the trimmings you mention - and they were all Camino Gold. They are also quite rare!

Deluxe trim was always an option in Aus, it juts took ages for them to get it. Although not unknown, 88" in camino gold were uncommon. By the end of the SIII Leyland were trying to compete with ever improving Jap models and were optioning up the Land Rover for the civvy market. Extra instruments, freewheeling hubs Toyota LV lookalike roo bars, driving lights were all in the options catalogue and available to order.
