ask the REMLR lads where they get there second hand ex millitary tyres. I here the ones that aren't suitable for highway use are real cheap and would be alright for farm duties.

the ex mil tyres being sold in most parts of the country have not been availabel in tasmania, and by the time you get them to tassie they are an expensive choice.
I had retread road grippers on my series 3 before these, and they were dereadfull in comparison. ride, handling, road grip, everything.

well there's your problem hahahaha I have some SP Road Grippers in 750R16 on my truck and they go alright even though they are quite old and dry. Would get 4 new ones if I could afford the price of new ones
Still haven't decided if I want to go wide tyres or stick with the skinnies. 235/85R16 will fit on a 6.5" IIA rim but will the 255/85R16 fit also? I am in a similar situtation in neding new mud tyres (only a weekend rig)
What about something like this?
4WDbits SAT Style Deestone D503 750-16 10 Ply
Or if it is only going to be used off-road, those rice-paddy tyres?

those SAT's are a copy of the goodyear Custom Xtra Grip Hi-Miler.

Goodyear still make them, but many copies are available. Tyres4u is a good page for finding some of the more obscure brands. (There is a tyres4u dealer in launceston). It also looks like the sime konvoys are no longer made.
Tyres 4U
Journey brand
Tyres 4U - 4WD/Light Commercial
GT radial, I would go with these nowadays.

Small tractor tyres would probably be the best and cheapest option - assuming you can pick some up 2nd hand...
Apart from that, Silverstone MT117 (original) are the cheapest new mud tyres I am aware of. Only available in 280/85-16 (9.00x16), not DOT rated - but they work VERY well in mud.
I have found a local bloke who sells "otani jeep service" to the mine blokes. They are about $175. How do they go?
Will the landy object to having something with "jeep" on them fitted? (jeep is a four letter word!)![]()
Have Bridgestone Jeep Service on mine. Don't know if they are the same thing rebranded. Might be they are made in the same factory???
Great in the mud, OK in the sand, not so good on wet grass/clay/rocks. Nice if you like to hum along with them on the highway
Wear has been good and they're tough as old boots.
