could you give us some photos of the back side of the hub with and without the disk on? is it a coiler hub, or is it a machined series hub which has had the webbing ribs machined off so that the disk may be bolted on?

I once looked into fitting the rear disks and calipers off the new 78 series Land Cruiser onto the front of a Series, as on the Cruiser the disk slips over the hub. The Cruiser disk is also 5 stud so could easily be re-drilled for Land Rover stud pattern and then slipped over the series hub. The offset looked good (for wheel and swivel housing clearance). The disk diameter was 345mm from memory. The swept area on this set up is quite small, however the large radius would give good braking effect and heat dissipation. It would use a similar adapter but avoid the hub problems. If it worked the only down side I could see would be that the disk would be inboard of the wheel and vulnerable to damage. Disco 3 disks are also slip over hub design. Just my 2cents worth

The best idea would be for me to send this bracket to someone who can measure it directly and convert it to CAD.

I just measured the internal diameter, it is 94mm not 90mm.

The attached photo will give you an idea of it's size.

The plate bolts onto the outside of the hub stub in place of the drum brake base. The disc rotor bolts to the inside of the hub, not over the top. They also came with wheel spacers sitting on top of the hub.

I'm working 12 hour days until Monday, I'll take some photos of it fitted to the swivel assembly then and also send the bracket off to be "CAD'd".

This is an excellent idea. I'm going to try this on my 109" as I have a second set of 6cyl front brakes now. I only have a single line system, but I'm thinking that using the front brakes on the rear while going forward will probably have about the same stopping power as the original rears.

    ......
CAD - computer aided design (or drawing) - drawings by computer
CAM - computer aided manufacturing - machine controlled by computer

CAD/CAM - put the two together - design on computer and these designs in digital form run the machine.

I dropped it off to Agrojnr today, he's going to CAD it and look at the possibility of making a copy.

I'm doubting it. I have yet to try my standard 16" rims or my Discovery rims on it. As soon as I get the caliper back and one of these togethor I'll try some rims on it.
