I got prices from ROAM earlier this year for the TC disc set up - very decent, especially with the high aussie dollar. They do a 4 wheel disc option too - for the few extra sheckles you'd be mad not to. They also said they would happily provide engineering drawings - when I spoke with the engineer that approved my holden donk he told me it all looks fine and he would approve it assuming I installed it properly.

It's on my list, but I have a bloody triumph spitfire I need to finish and sell first!

    cheers,

    Adam

How much are we talking here? What may sound - and even be 'cheap' may not fit what some others have in mind. This setup may be worth more than the rest of the vehicle, and at the end of the day, I'm curious as hell to know if this can be done legally or not.

So, does that mean you will have a standard hub and drum you can donate to the cause???

    Update

Just a quick update to let you know I have had the required parts donated for the mock up for the Engineer. A BIG thank you to Dfendr for this.

I will be doings bits and pieces on it when I can, and I'll post stuff when I have anything to report. I have also just got access to a CNC plasma cutter, so I can stuff about with caliper brackets to my hearts content...

    Cheers - Gav

Did you have to change the wheel rims?

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Has anyone had a look at cookey's conversion kit from here in Sydney?

    aulro.com / series-disc-brake-conversion-i-did-my-way

He recently received engineers certification which can be arranged at a discount price for vehicles converted with his kit.

The standard rims fit according to the instructions that came with it and they do look as though they will fit, but I have wolf rims on.

I'll grab a standard rim and try it tomorrow.

The front four pot callipers and vented discs are from the latest Defenders.

I'm 100% sure you can do this using landrover parts.Disco or something .I have read a story on a SWB in one of my landy magazines .So i spent allday yesterday going through 20 plus years of landy mags.I'm about half way through them. & i'm sure he use disco swivels by cutting the flange off the disco axle & welding it onto the series axle so the swivel could be bolted up..Now if this is true the cost would only be for a secondhand disco diff disc to disc & a engineers certificate.I do have a funny feeling that i may have given the mag i'm looking for away..BUT i'm 100% sure this can be done & at a cost everyone could aford.. I'll let use know how i get on.. If i had the money i would buy a disco diff or even a fender diff & sort it out..& if this can be done all you will need to do is have some welding skills..My welding is ok , it doesnt look the prettiest but the engineer has never complained about it..

Early RRc swivels are 6 bolt the same as series landies, but you still have to deal with the rear track rod fowling on the series spring pack with any of the coiler swivels.

Spacing up the housing over the spring pack or rotating the pinion angle are very poor compromises as they introduce new problems.

Yeah your right , But there is a way around it some how i'm 100% sure ..Someone has done it by sswaping the swivels left to righ & right to left.If i had the money right now id get a diff & sort it out as i have heaps of time just not the funds yet.& someone had asked me if the bottom arms off the series will bolt to the other swivels , I said dunno as i dont have one here to see..I'm about half way through all my magazines & theres a couple of story's in them of people using differant bits off others to fit them. One bloke used disco or rangie swivels & then put RM callipers on it..I'd like to go 4 wheel discs on the tray back i'm building..I'd use disco or fender diffs if i could afford it as i dont mind iff there wider as it would make it more stable..Like i said i just dont have the funds to play around at the moment ..But there has to be a way to do it where its not going to cost so much ..I think with an engineers certificate & parts it should'nt cost anymore then say $1500 at the very most..We need to find a way to make this possable so everyone can afford it..Cookies kit is close to $4k i think with differant parts needed & all the other overseas ones seem to be around $3k to get..Most people dont even spend that on buying the car..I have spent well over 10k building the green one & i'm sure Harry is going to cost about that if not more.
