My kit did not come with those brake lines they were meant to supply that you used, they must have forgotten to pack them in.
I had to make up new lines with a tight bend on them to get around the issue, but I've found they're still just touching the shock which must be happening when the wheel is hit as it has enough clearance when I check the turn. Look at the attached photo: Disc Brake Conversion.

On another note I'm extremely happy with my disc brakes, I should have done the conversion years ago. On road and off road I have acknowledged their benefit many times.

I'll check the clearance to the shock tonight when I get home. I think from memory I have approximately 2-5mm clearance from the shock at full lock with the flexible brake lines.

Well the drivers side still hits the shock. Passenger side is fine. Just need to re-adjust the steering bump bolt, so it doesn't hit the shock. The Roam Off Road documentation mentions something about a new shock mount. Might need to send an email to Brian.. To see what's up with that..

From the Photo's I just posted, you can see that my 15" rims still fit perfect with the new Disc brake system. And in the second photo, the brake pipe still hit's the shock at full lock.

Please excuse the aside, but your wheels are the same as mine but in 1000% better condition. I was wondering if they've just been looked after really well or have you had them reconditioned? If the latter what was done?

They weren't in too bad condition. All I did was to clean them up, and primed and painted them. I will sand blast them again at a later date. And do it all properly.

I'm looking at putting disc brakes on my series 3 but I'm thinking I might change the front and rear diffs that way a few problems would be solved. Has anyone done a diff conversion and what did they use.

Havent done it but im going disc brakes one way or another on my tray back specialy now its got the holden V8 & nissan 5 speed..Not to sure wether i'll use complete diffs or wether i'll cut the swivel flange off & weld to my front diff.BUT i want 4 wheel disc brakes..

As an update my conversion is still going strong with zero problems. The series brakes better than both our Defenders!

I have to either revisit this idea or else sell the S2A PUP.

I just can't allow my wife to go into town with something that doesn't have a consistent brake pedal.

Not when you have to control 2 tons and the buggers in front of you all have ABS.

Good evening Ladies and Gents,

Did you ever finalise the disc brake conversion, I have purchased a 1973 SW and would like to upgrade the front to disc brakes.

Did your brackets that you discussed many years ago work. Sorry for the time lag but I am new to SIII's.

But did grow up next door to the factory.
