Similar but different idea - having found that the paint wears off the handbrake, which then rusts, I turned an aluminium sleeve to be a tight fit, knurled on the outside, and ensured it is secure with Loktite.Quote:

I hadn't really noticed the handbrake :). Now i will have to do something about it.
Got some more stuff from the UK yesterday, from order to delivery was less than a week. It's taking me longer than that to get things in Australia! Bought some new door handles with locks. The ones on Clancy would not lock and if I want to use this as a daily driver type car then it has to be able to be locked up at shopping centres and the like. Also got some mirrors and hinges to replace the horrible caravan style mirrors on Banjo. Also got some diff guards since they are only 15 pounds each. Even with a share of the freight they are much cheaper than the cheapest I have seen here. A few little bits as well like new pins for the hinges on the back door and the little plastic bits that hinge the bonnet.
Got the new locks in today and it now is a lockable car :D. New pins in the back door hinges as well so that swings nicely.
Also put some new rubber in the boot floor and decided to put some sound proofing/heat proofing stuff underneath it. Then put the same stuff under the floor mats in the front and over the gearbox tunnel. It does help a little but now there is lots of heat from the firewall rather than the floor so that will be the next bit to get to.
It's all an ongoing story, still fun though :).
