    Landy axles

Gday all!! have been gathering some very good information on this site!! i'm goin down the path of puting RR diff centers in me LR but i'm a bit unsure of the 10 spline axles tho? would i be better off puting 24 splin in or staing with 10? i don't do much serious 4x4 only mild stuff like beach drivering and some outback track driving not all that conferdent to go down wild tracks!!

if 24 is the way to go what axles would be the go?? can RR axles be put in?

If you refer to the half shafts, no, you cannot use RR ones - the track id different and the swivels etc are different. If you mean the whole axle assembly, it is possible, but there are significant problems with the steering interfering with the front leaf springs, and the wider track means you need to plan on mudguard extensions. Note that if you have a lwb Series 3 with a salisbury rear diff you cannot put in a RR diff centre.

As far as I know all Series 3 Rover axles are 10 spline where they go into the diff, lwb had 24 spline outer on the front to match the 24 spline salisbury half shafts, and this was extended to all late series 3. Since they are only ten spline at the inner end, I don't think there is a significant advantage in going to 24 spline outer ends.

Yer i'v basicly got S3 body work on a 2A chassis! the chassis on the S3 was beond repair. i managed to salvage the diffs off the S3 outer casings were rusted out and i did notice that the outer shaft on front is 24. but the axles on the 2A chassis are both 10 inner and outer which i will swap over to the S3 axles!!
so i should be right with the RR diffs outa a classic with 10 spline?

providing your only talking about swapping the pumpkins in the housing yes BUT beware that your going to go from 4.7:1 to 3.54:1 and the standard Series donks wont push that very well.
