For what it's worth, I've been pleasantly surprised at how advanced the series III seems to be - I thought it'd be much more utilitarian...

Oh man! Swish seats, and it has door handles! Sure its not a 2004 build?
Next thing ya know, Land Rover will be installing poncey cassette decks!

The interior is in really nice condition judging by the photos, I'd say the diff is the only reason for its sale so you've done well.

My internet has returned to me! (Went over the download limit - thank you Telstra, your generosity astounds me )

I'll be uploading more pics very soon, because it's time I started doing something productive...

    After this

    Blue Slip

    Before I take Buttercup (thank you Carolyn!) for a blue/white slip, this is a reasonably comprehensive list of things that need to be done;

    1. Rear Differential - wheel to wheel setup replacement (Rover)
    2. Indicator Wiring - RHS indicator not working, neither is dash signal
    3. Headlight - RHS not working, bulb?
    4. Gasket replaced - exhaust (i.e. start of exhaust pipe)
    5. Grease front joints
    6. Fuel filter
    7. Frayed LHS Seat Belt
    8. Rust patch in chassis
    9. Random surface rust

If anybody can provide any assistance or advice for the above, please feel free to offer it!

Does anybody know where do find a reasonable guide for Series III blue slip requirements? i.e. seatbelts, etc.

    Thanks,
    Dave.

PS. Is there much stress/cost associated with converting the head to unleaded fuel use?

With the electrical items, if the bulbs test okay, then next thing to check is to make sure there is a good earth.

    Cheers, Mick.

4 = Manifold gasket? (between head and exhaust/intake manifolds?)

Many Land Rover owners (myself included) just use ULP in 2.25s without modification. This is a tough motor designed to run on all sorts of crap fuels!

JDNSW for example, has often said that despite years of using plain ULP in his 2A, he has had no issues with valve seat regression.

Not the manifold gasket (I think), it's in the pick below where the exhaust narrows, you can see the black area where it has blown onto the dip stick...

    ULP works for me
