    OOPS - WIRING PROBLEM

I decided to remove the front dash of my series three the other day as I needed to repair the front windscreen demisting hose and also the indicators weren't working correctly. Having decided to ignore instructions and neglecting to disconnect the battery, I had a short in the wires and for a few brief minutes of panic thought that the whole truck was going to go up in flames.

I think I have only destroyed the inspection plug wires, which I'm of the belief are unfused and go direct to the battery. I have attached a photo of the damage. Its not the best of pictures but can anyway tell me if its just the inspection wires and if there would be any problems in just removing whats left of the wires? Also on the second photo, is that the indicator unit in the top centre of the photo?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi

Saw your post and have to reply. Been there done that. Your dash wiring looks in good shape on the second picture. Ended up putting a inline fuse on the wire feeding the pos. socket on mine.

I bet you could just replace the wires that burnt (with the bat disconnected) :-)

Some of your wiring looks new. On your second picture I think the box your referring to is the voltage stabilizer- I think it lowers the voltage or something for a couple of your gauges.
