the good conversions use the landrover flywheel and radiator

the holden flywheel was much lighter and the unit would not hold revs as well and was less controllable at low revs..

the conversion were done two different ways to suit the the different layouts.

4cyl petrol and diesel

and 6 cyl petrol

the 6cyl petrol was the easiest cause it already had the extended firewall section.

the 4cyl conversion usually involved cutouts in the front crossmember.

been there done that, was an easier job than putting a holden motor in a hiace tho, they really sucked rocks...

are the gearbox mount rubbers square?

what clearance do you have between the top of the bellhousing and the firewall?

maybe easier to lift the gearbox mounts using some thick 5/8" washers to packup under the mount.

way easier if you can go up....

No, the gearbox rubber mounts are rubber, and about 3cm thick. Maybe a thicker pad there as I have enough clearance at the firewall, it is the driveshaft where there is only 3mm clearance, and lifting the gearbox looks like it will aleviate this. is 1cm more enough? or would that be too much?

10mm would be fine

put some wide washers under the mounts and try it...

i would have thought the gearbox mounts would have been the square diesel type mount, and i cannot remember the height off the top of my head ...

Don't know about the square ones, but they look like the one that the manual shows, so they are probably original. I'll give the washers a go, it should be a nice easy jop.

Mind you, now that i've said that, it will probably take 3 hours :roll:

Get exhaust rerouted
Wrap exhaust with heat shielding
Install overdrive
Get bull bar fixed
Buy new tyres (probably steeltreks)
