Hi All,

I'm very sorry for the late reply, I'm new to this forum and hadn't set it up to be notified of any replies. Thanks very much for the information. I did end up installing one in my 6 cyl Series III LWB over Christmas. I must say that it has transformed the vehicle. I'm now not too worried about going on the highway and holding up traffic, and now it is possible to have a conversation at 90km/h, though 100km is still uncomfortable haha. I've done 1700km's with it now and am very happy with it. On Saturday I'm setting off on a 3500km trip over three weeks, which I never would have considered before the overdrive installation.

Roamer market the kit as suitable for installing in a 6 cyl series vehicle but they've obviously never tried it themselves. They did mention that the shift lever bracket would need some extension welded on, as the gearbox is mounted about 50mm further back on the 6 cylinder. However, I needed to make up a new selector rod as well. It replaced a Fairey overdrive, and the Fairey people were much more on the ball with making provision for both the 4 and 6 cyl, as the bracket I removed had mounting holes for both positions, and the selector linkage was longer with two positions. If Roamer had supplied such a bracket and short selector rod extender installation would have been a snap. My Series is a 1976 and everything else fitted up fine.

I put on the finned alloy transfer case cover, and I also have problems with oil leaks, probably worse than before. I used gasket glue as well as the gasket but I'll have to find something better.

You've got me worried about the oil that I'm using now The installation manual says not to use GL-5 oil as they "may contain additives that will harm bronze components". After a lot of looking around I ended up using Penrite PRO GEAR GL-4 75W-90 which although is fully synthetic, the datasheet says that it "Will not harm brass or bronze", and it's not recommended for GL-5 applications, so I'm hoping I'm okay.

Thanks again, cheers Shaun
