second one looks like a starter solenoid support bracket but cant be sure and it wouldnt be original i belive
1951, 80 inch parts identification.
Attached to the firewall, immediately to the right of the steering column is a switch which I suspect is not original. Does anyone know whether this switch should be there or what it may be for. There was 1 wire attached., going nowhere.
Also under the bonnet at the top left of the firewall is a bracket, again I suspect this is not original – Any ideas if this is original or has been added.

The first one is a Lucas instantaneous switch as Inc suggests, they were used as horn buttons and as call buttons in trams amongst other things. (I wonder if the vehicle had a key start solenoid at some point and that was a remote button for use in the engine bay? Not unlike the remote solenoids* with a button, seen on many SIIa and Rover cars.)
The second bracket looks like a bracket off a lucas horn. They were often fitted in that location in the later models. I don't know if it was an Annand and Thomspon thing but many of the ones I have seen with a horn in that position were distributed by A&T Brisbane.
The ignition coil was usually fitted close to that position in the 1948 on models.
* Remote solenoid.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
Thanks, I think you may be right, an additional horn with it's own bracket and push button, but could well have been a start button for an aftermarket starter solenoid.
This was a Grenville vehicle.
I was just a bit curious that the bracket may have been some sort of after market coil mount, as the parts book I am using doesn't show the exact coil position for the 51 model with the 1.6 engine.
