Tips for removing [seized] rear springs

On the front hangers for the rears on my swb 2a, is there a trick to removing the bolt that holds the spring (weight on/off/etc.)?

I've managed to remove the shackle end but can't budge the front. I assume its not threaded like the other end with the shackled,?

From memory, the nut is a lock nut.Undo/remove that first. The main bolt is theaded into the shackle plate.
Try brake fluid as a release agent.

Jake,I may have given you a bum steer.
Just went and looked at my Ser3,after re-reading your post.
It may well be that the nut is a locknut on the chassis end, treat it as though it is,memory is fading!!!!!
Brakefluid painted on the threads and left overnite will work a treat.

The bolt often rusts to the inner sleeve of the spring bush making removal diffficult/impossible.

You may end up having to cut the bolt without damaging the hanger or the spring. A Series I I purchased some time ago had been butchered to release the spring, at least the cut piece of chassis was found in the back.

Thanks guys, I've managed to get the nut off so I'll try some brake fluid and if not I'll have to resort to the angle grinder!

Last time I faced this, I found a thin cutting disc on the bolt worked. There is just enough space to get it in without damaging the chassis or spring if you are careful.

I've got another set of springs to go in as some of my leaves have broken so I'll try the thin disc if the brake fluid doesn't work

Just had to do this on the series 3. Used a thin cutting disk as mentioned. I couldn't quite get all the way through, so used a hacksaw an the last bit.

So the angle grinder and thin disc did the job. One side needed a lot more effort - had to bang and grind and get it out in slices
