    Screw Wanted

    Hi All,

For those with their mind in the gutter - it's not what you think.

I am after a screw for the brake switch on a 1960 Series 2 SWB.

    Here is a picture:

I have one of the screws - but have been unable to source a second screw. I don't know what size/shape/thread - but I do know that it's a bit rare-ish.

Mods - sorry if this should be in the Wanted Section, but I figured that it was very "series" specific and I am hoping to get more advertising by placing it in the Series Section.

I would be happy to pay anybody for this screw - as it's now holding me up!

    Cheers,

I would suspect the screw thread size would be the same as any of the screws that are fitted to the choke warning light, voltage regulator, and or early fuse boxes, the only difference will be that the screw may not have a cheese head on it, hope that's of some help, any older English car or Land Rover could have them, cheers mate Dennis

And as John stated 'probably BA' he is most likely correct and if so it will be 1BA or 0BA, cheers Dennis

I don't think we have such a switch on our 80 inch vehicles so I can't compare. I think it would be a 2BA cheese head, maybe 1BA. It mat be what I call a turned down cheese head where the top is only marginally larger than the thread.

We have some round head 0, 1, 2 ... BA brass screws, if that is of any help, might be able to adapt with a dremel. They are a bit long but that is the easy bit.

    G'day,
Can I suggest that a good source of these brass BA screws is old 240volt power point sockets and elctrical fittings. Have done a quick check on an old power point screw and looks to be 2BA cheese head and as I don't have a BA thread gauge looks to be the right pitch. (Note that modern power point screws are ISO.)
    Regards Chris.

If you can work out the size from the other screw, I have a lot of BA screws. You can have one if I have the right size.

It looks like the same switch many English cars of the period have. As such, I have several switches with screws like that in various cars scattered around my house.

If no on else comes through with one, let me know.

    Screws

I have several different ones that will work. I tried them in my switch which is the same as yours. None exactly the same as the original but the ones out of old power points are close but a bit longer. Maybe you could cut them off or just leave them.

PM me you address and I can drop them in the post.

    Cheers,
    Russ
