Stick it in the tub in a ventilated battery box, not many other options around if you have a second fuel tank.
I am planning on fitting an auxiliary battery but all my online searches to date have failed to find even a single image of such an installation. Plenty of "Discovery Series 2" but no original Series II; "a" or otherwise.
Someone must have done this job?
I also plan on fitting a second fuel tank. This will go under the passenger seat so installation of the battery in that position is excluded.
Any thoughts, advice, pictures . . . . . music?

My S III had a battery box for 2nd battery mounted between the bumper and the grill when I got it, I haven't had a need for a second battery on that one so took the box off. The curved infill that usually sits in that position has been replaced with a flat piece of aluminium.
Cheers, Mick.

Like I said, I never used the vehicle with the battery in that position, so I couldn't say for sure about it restricting air flow. It was off to one side against the chassis, so away from the main part of the grille on a series III, although a series IIa could be a different story. Sorry, I don't have photos of the installation.
Cheers, Mick.
