    Chrissy loot - wotcha get?

I scored a number 3, copper headed hammer for bashing out all those recalcitrant bolts (most of which I've already got out ), a pair of overalls to keep my good kit clean and to protect D's modesty , and some cash for some of those mythical Whitworth ring spanners.

I even got an offer from a workmate of my brother in law to buy my Series 1. I told him I'd need some way of replacing it with a Fiat or MG to restore. Bet nothing happens so Wombat's safe... if you define 'safe' as being restored by me

Apart from that, I've probably eaten too much, managed to avoid getting booked for speeding, saw that petrol was cheap down at my sister's end of town so waited to near home to fill up where it was dearer

So, how'd your's go. Anyone get to take their Series Landy out for a Chrissy drive?

    I was at work...
but had a chat to a bloke with a very nice gumleaf green coloured series 3 who em.. elected to stop to chat with me on the highway! (a 109)

He had driven from near Adelaide and was headed to Barmera, it was very nice not immaculate but very straight and clean and ..well.. nice!

He tells me its never been painted or restored etc, it was his dads and now he drives it to family get togethers etc

He looked like he was melting, the blue bladed plastic fan on the dash blowing through a terry towelling cloth which he kept spraying with ice water as an evaporating air con wasnt apparently starring but he was prepared...

He was wearing tshirt and shorts and apparently teed up a shower when he gets there so has his "good clothes" ready to wear!

He couldnt prop the rear window open whilst driving and the vents were bringing in pretty hot air off the highway anyway hence using the towell method which was his dads trick apparently. He had a small esky on passenger seat with ice and bottles of water and this spray bottle in it!

    Good planning.

He doesnt use the internet but has said if he decides to he'll look us (aulro) up.

A little sunshine for me checking it out anyway.

I got a defender embossed landy travel mug, 3 landy t shirts
and from my wife (the minister for war and finance) I got "THEY FOUND OUR ENGINEER" the book.

Im rapt. May have to read it then send it to my Qld collegues to see if they could get the man himself to autograph it
