    Tooheys Old.

As members may, or maybe not know, the Friendly wager between Homester and I, on who's series will be finished first.
I feel some what ahead, and am sure I Taste Tooheys Old in my mouth, as I type.
7.50pm, time for one more I Guess.
I feel at a slight disadvantage, as I post many pics of my ongoing progress, if somewhat slow for the last 4 week, due to oldest childs boyfriend, with his Supra in MY shed.
But I see none from the other party involved.
Is he going to suddenly produce the finished product ? I know many of his friends have finished a beautiful restoration, and he may claim one as his own.
Is he working extra hrs, as defeat is most certain, and needs the money to pay up. ( we have all seen the cost of a restoration thread )
Or the fact Harry now has my Bulkhead, and my Chassis is NEARLY finished, has his head buried in the sand.
    Keep you updated with Pics.
Would you like me to send a box of tissues ????
As I feel my momentum Building.

Are you saying Gav took 8 days off to drive his finished Project to QLD.

    Bitter taste in my mouth.
He would have driven past my place at Murwillumbah heading North. And again, back heading South.
    Thanks for the support Pedro.

Funny you should start this thread - not only did I recently do a blat to Qld and back - but I also enjoyed quite a few olds while up there... and on the way back at Dubbo RSL.... oh, and even now as I knock one of the last ones back from the trip.

We drove up on the Newell so a long way inland from you. Up through Dalby then back through Kingaroy (spent up big on peanuts) back to Dalby, then south back through Dubbo, stopped at 'the dish' in Parkes and back home that evening. 3,500KM in 4 days driving, with 3 nights in lovely warm weather (compared to Melbourne) camping in between - had a blast, one of the best road trips I've been on. I don't think Bytemark and I stopped talking for more than 5 minutes for the whole trip.

As for the car - I've got a complete rolling chassis on new rubber, brakes, power steering and a bulkhead that needs a coat of paint before being fitted one last time for good.

Will be cracking the gearbox open soon for its rebuild.

No 1 Son is in Hospital at the moment, and I've got prior commitments for a few more weekends, so you might be able to catch up.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

    Hi Gav.
    Hope you sons ok..
    Sounds like a good trip.
What was the transport. Old or modern.
Gearbox is down the list. Have a gasket and oil seal kit. Was attached to the unworn 2 1/4 petrol motor. hope it's the original mating, so little wear on it also.
    Keep up the good work.

    Tooheys Old.

Transport was modern and Land Rover.

Low flying rocket sled - D4. . Not mine unfortunately.

I won't tell you how fast it goes overtaking a b double or road train but let's just say it makes easy work of it.

Homey in a very industrious fellow. My money is on him.
Want me to send you a box of tissues, Mr Hillbilly?

I'll call in a few times, if you like. Make it a handicap race. That's the only way you'll have a chance.

Up to the firewall already, Gav. You're just about on the home stretch. Then, that next project that gets discussed.
