Thought I would start a separate thread for Gilbert's gearbox.
Have two 903' couple of thousand apart, so will compare wear and tear.
Pics to follow.
Have started pulling down the two boxes. Now I start to understand problems mentioned on forums, and possible solutions, to gearbox issues.
Interesting to note on one gearbox, all three detent springs the same. The other, two the same, one shorter,
. (Reverse maybe)
One thing has me puzzled. How does pushing down the yellow knob, pin drops into hole in shaft, or does it also move something else ???? engage 4x4, high range ????
I know what it does.Engage front drive shaft. Can see what it does. Pin drops in hole.
Will have another look and see if I can work it out. So simple.
Also noticed on 3/4syncro hub, gears teeth, more worn on one side to the other.
Machined that way, or worn ????
