    John,

    Hello again.

    Will do.

Hardy Spicer will be closed now for the weekend - so, I will call them on Monday to sort something out.

My understanding from when I picked up a set a few weeks back was that they should be a regular stock item.

I don’t know if the split washer is available new, but understand that they aren’t necessary with the new type of seal. They gave me a couple that had come off an old propshaft that had been repaired.

    Cheers,

    Neil

Yes, I can do that when I check them on Monday.

The number may also be on the sales docket from when I bought them a few weeks ago. I will see if I can dig it out later today.

    Cheers,

    Neil

The one's I can get come with the threaded cap for about $15 but there is a very, very limited supply. I have put some into 'stock' but will get some for John hopefully on Monday.

Those split steel washers are a PITA when they have been half dragged through the cap, hammer them flat and you can see what happens in the link below. Managed to re-shape them but took a while.

    Seals

    Colin,

    Hello from Brisbane.

There probably isn’t a lot of point in us both chasing these seals for John. Are you planning to get them to take to Cooma or should I still be chasing them up from Hardy Spicer on Monday? Happy to do it but if you have it in hand already well and good.

The seals from Hardy Spicer don’t necessarily come with the threaded cap and a pair cost me about $20 from memory - still looking for the invoices. The metal retaining washer is pretty flimsy and easily broken as we both discovered, but I was told that they really aren’t required for the updated seals - more to stop the original cork seals from falling apart.

    Cheers,

    Neil

    Hello again from Brisbane.

The part number (from Hardy Spicer’s in Richlands) is DCK 30A. This is a set for one shaft with the seal and the threaded cap and costs ~$9. As noted before the split washer isn’t included with the new seal type.

    Cheers,

    Neil
