Duck Egg Blue engine paint - can it be bought here ?

    Hi All,

This question has probably been asked before, but I couldn't any recent postings.

Does anyone know if Duck Egg Blue engine paint can be bought in Australia ?

    Thanks

    SIII Paint colours and codes

Courtesy of TimNZ - paint code for 2.25 engine colour. (Probably the 2.6 6 Cylinder too - it looks very close IMO.

    Paint code is BS-4800-16C33.

The paint supplier, (Steve), didn't have to code on file anywhere, (probably because it's an engine colour, not a body colour), but has since made a note of it in case anyone else wants it. I'd found the code online somewhere, and it looks correct.

The paint was mixed in "Industrial Enamel" so it's suitable to use on an engine block. I took it in "paint in a tin" form, but Steve did ask if I wanted it in aerosol, which would be handy if you didn't have a gun.

    Engine paint colour

"Supercheap Auto's can mix the colour for you in a spray can.
Just give them the colour name "Duck Egg Blue"

Is it best to try and get a heat resistant paint ?
Just wondering if it will discolour with heat over time, is 'industrial enamel' heat resistant ?

I used the same as Whitebilly. Apparently it is very close to the original colour.

Interestingly, the block from my 1954 86" still has some engine paint on it. Any idea if it the same Duck Egg Blue as per later series models?

Ive just been thru this here in Adelaide. The paint code in s2a thread is not viable now as most everything is on computer. I ended up, after going to several auto stores that mix paint etc, going to protec and they mixed me up a can of a very light blue paint. Cant remember the colour. Im not home atm. I sprayed some on my buggered timing cover that still had some original colour on it and its damn close to perfect match. Tried auto barn, super chap, sprint autos even a panel shop. No go. Im pretty pleased with it. Will edit post when i get home.

    Cheers Rod

Ok colour is called smoke blue. Looks the goods to me anyway.
